Terrible solutions manual for the price. A symbol of what's wrong with the textbook industry.

Here's a quick DR;TL: Hello, fellow students. This is a huge waste of your money. It is thin, poorly printed, sparse in help - yes, it provides solutions, but maybe there's one in the library you can reference once in a while... It barely justifies half of its cover price.
There's much to say about the need for publishers and authors to charge a significant price for their work, to ensure thoroughness and accuracy and to account for the thousands of hours needed to produce a product that can be trusted as an appropriate resource for education. Open source textbooks, some would say, do not receive as much attention to detail and that most are not written by experts in the field because of the lack of incentive ($$$) to produce quality material. Many disciplines, especially in the sciences, depend on frequent updates in the form of new editions to ensure that appropriate and accurate material is presented in the classroom. This ongoing work requires a significant amount of manpower and justifies the price on the cover of the book. It is easy to demonstrate a business model where the only way to continue to produce high-quality textbooks is through "appropriate pricing" and a cycle of new editions.
There's just as strong an argument that the publishers' near-annual updating is less about fixing errors and providing cutting-edge material and more about destroying the used book industry through forced obsolescence. There are also many cases in which authors with the best of intentions only see a fraction of the revenue collected on their work, as publishers justify high expenses through their sales and marketing campaigns. Websites and digital media produced to supplement the learning experience are usually provided with a code, giving the student limited access to the material - a clear signal that once a student has completed the course, the publisher does not believe they have the right, or the need, to revisit the material anytime in the future. I could spend pages discussing the large percentage of students who struggle just to cover their tuition let alone scrape together enough money to pay for each cycle of new textbooks. I have seen it all: students who share textbooks. Students who try to utilize the reserve copy at the library. Students who make do with older editions (which often have shuffled problem sets, perhaps an intentional move by the publishers to make this more difficult). Students who pirate copies off the internet. Students who buy International Editions. It is easy for publishers to scoff at this trend and imagine that a majority of these cases involve strategies to generate as much beer money as possible - but there are a significant number of students out there who are making the choice between textbooks and food. That is a serious state of affairs.
Could a publisher-subsidized program for free textbooks for low-income students help? Could open source textbooks be the answer? There is already a growing movement by small groups of educators to move toward this type of future. Whatever the outcome, it's clear the textbook industry is controversial, and I haven't yet decided which side I will choose in this serious debate. Part of me really wants the industry to adapt and to provide a reason for people to support them and the production of top-tier textbooks.
But then I buy a book like this one. This horrible excuse for an educational aid doesn't help the publisher's argument in the slightest. Here is a solutions manual that could not be more barebones; it looks as if it were produced on a 1980s era dot matrix printer, and contains no graphs or figures. In several places, it refers the student to the CD in the textbook. It looks like it was reproduced from a fifth-generation copy that someone found behind a file cabinet in the authors' office. The entire book measures no more than 1/2 inch thick. For a retail price of $81.50 ($77.50 through Amazon), this book represents the publisher thumbing their nose at students. When the Sixth Edition of Analytical Chemistry was compiled, the problems were generated as well as the answers. A faculty edition of the book was produced, providing the answers. So the answers were already there. Why does this thin little book have to cost $81.50, when the original textbook retails for $202.50 (~$155 through Amazon)? Did the publisher not make enough money from the student the first time around, when they bought the textbook? Or are they just stating what they believe to be a fair market price for "the answers"?
I cannot verify the consistency of the answers, but from my brief skim through the material, I would have expected more detail in the provided solutions for the price of this manual. Many solutions have a brief, one sentence explanation of the answer; some only provide the final solution. They look like solutions produced by a TA. What would have justified the price is exposition on at least a few key problems in each section, to not only provide solutions but to provide some additional guidance for students who might need clarification. As it is, all it provides is a reference guide to verify final answers. As a resource, it barely would justify a $30 cover price. As a future educator, I make it a habit to buy solutions manuals when they are available. They sit on my bookshelf alongside their main textbooks. I have purchased a few sparse solutions manuals in my time, but never on that was so expensive for what it provided. The last one I bought that met this level of quality was $39, but was still about 50 pages longer. For the first time, I am sending the solutions manual back.
When publishers find themselves frustrated over the robust used book and international edition marketplace, when they wring their hands over the internet piracy of scanned and digital versions of their books, when they don't understand why fewer and fewer universities will adopt their planned cycles for the newest editions, they should look no further than this example for the answers to what motivates people to find an alternative. If I had to pick a place to start, and I were giving advice directly to the publishers, I'd say first please get better at subsidizing textbooks for low-income students and schools at all levels. But if you want some low-hanging fruit, stop charging so much for manuals such as this one here. You're not making any friends.

There are varying text fonts throughout and format is incredibly tedious to read. There are also no verbal explanations which proves incredibly difficult to figure out problems that you do not understand.
