Required reading for history students studying East Africa.

Rwanda, by Ensign and Bertrand, provide a window into the often misunderstood and poor performing world of African governance.
It is post genocide evidence of how these tribal people are building back their society in very innovative ways.
History and Hope could only be written by authors who have invested a lifetime of engagement with the African people of this region.

An exceptional explanation, description of the most distressing and unlikely event which tool place in the world's modern days

These readings bring out the drastic picture of a massive Genocide witnessed by an indifferent world's billions. The book describes a subsequent completely dysfunctional array of subject survivors, yet presently lead by a remarkably effective leadership who actually solves the seemingly impossible dilemma in a remarkably effective way. It describes a rather unusual type, reorganization of government, basic schools, health care and community services including higher education facilities and all of this monumental reorganization done with ,in effect,little outside help and under a wide application of a somewhat different gender factor of government namely, with mostly Females in top responsibilities. The book also brings to life a rather strange and untoward phenomenon in that it reveals that a large part of the planning and perhaps some of the execution of the killings of thousands of tutsies, the victims, was conceivably carried out by the misionary type Catholic Clergy of Priests or nuns? This is a very informative book since so very little was ever broadcasted by the media, and the USA, the United Nation, and as it were, other NATO countries turned a blind eye on the RWANDA genocide .A book and a movie have been launched about the event, Rwanda has returned to a vibrant country with relative good quality of life ,under valiant people with effective government, yet with a minimum of outside help, set to thrive in its continent and or the world over. A very interresting saga.
